Meet Ruth. She is the most amazing woman. She works at a guest house and, in addition to her own son, takes care of several sponsor children and family members. Her husband Boaz works out of town and is only home some weekends. In her spare time she runs a non-profit that helps provide school fees and necessities to desperate families. www.loveandsupportforchildren.org
My girls and I were so fortunate to be able to go back to Uganda in December, just before the country was shut down to all foreign travellers. We visited friends and our sponsor kids as well as a couple of amazing orphanages. Check them out:
More to come on these in different posts.
Anyway, I digress. Our friend Ruth invited us over for dinner. Ruth cooks over a charcoal fire in her "chitchen", which is a fenced area on the side of her house. She made this beautiful meal and we dined al fresco in the front yard. True Ugandan dining is family-style with everyone eating with their hands. It was absolutely delicious and we cleaned that big platter. We threw the pork bones to the chickens that were walking around. Thanks Ruth for an amazing meal and for allowing us to be a part of your family!
